THE EPITOME of LA fun and sun: Ashley Paige captured both these elements in one high fashion sweep. There was celebrity frenzy as Tommy Lee covered the runway for an episode of the Sharon Osbourne show. Of course, Tommy had to add his own sense of style, by throwing dollar bills on the run­way of the models, suggest­ing they were of stripper material.
   However, bad behav­iour and bikinis at 10 A.M. faze no one in LA, neither do flashbulbs or paparazzi. Ashley Paige opened this season with gold earthy tones and symbols of the sea. The ’70s feel, brought back through crochet and macramé were the key knits of this collection. Models donned Farrah Fawcett-meets-the-mermaid hair, wind-blowned and sand-wrecked. There was a healthy young glow on the girls, shown with pretty blossomy cheeks and subtle lips.
   With hand-made knitted bikinis made in LA, Paige’s customers are sure to stand out in the sun. Her ‘Jessica’ macramé maillot was absolutely beautiful, with a wide navel plunging centre, and creamy touch. ‘Bianca’, the beach grass bikini made me think more of a day in the Hamptons than a day in LA, while ‘Lindzi’, a navy drawstring romper, reminisced the Jersey shore. ‘Hannah’, a tiny tie-kini was tasteful, while another ‘Jessica’, a pistachio love-kini, was a bit too much. Whatever your style, you’ll have fun in the sun in an Ashley Paige suit.
