VOLANTE In part one of our US travel special, Lola Cristall heads to two hotels in Boston, Massachusetts, for two of the city’s more sumptuous experiences

Boston is surrounded by extensive history and deep New England culture. As the city continues to expand, certain hotspots are must-see destinations. The Boston Harbor Hotel, located on the iconic Rowes Wharf Harbor, is an example of an absolute luxurious hotspot that truly stands by its ‘Beyond Compare’ motto. The waterfront hotel is situated in the heart of the city and is an extravagantly lavish “home away from home”. With 232 rooms including 27 suites, the new John Adams suite is definitely the hotel’s centre of attention, with its sophisticated atmosphere, lavish accommodations and breathtaking interior décor. The 4,800 ft² space includes a spacious 1,000 ft² terrace that welcomes guests to the great outdoors with an exquisite panoramic view of Boston. The suite includes a private elevator, butler service upon request, a full bar to enjoy a slew of cocktails as well as drinks, a selection of teas, an array of convenient kitchen appliances, and specifically designed finishes meticulously put together by the award-winning luxury design firm Smith Firestone Associates.
While the John Adams suite is truly a treat, other rooms throughout the hotel also highlight the concept of luxury, with haute amenities and distinguished décor. Managing director, Stephen Johnston, along with his team, ensure that every detail is thoroughly taken care of and planned, for an unforgettably lavish encounter.
Two distinct restaurants and three bars are available for guests, including the Rowes Wharf Sea Grille, where a healthy and fresh breakfast, including an array of refreshing juices and homemade baked goods are served; a delicious lunch, scrumptious afternoon tea and a delectable dinner are available. For a fine dining experience, the Meritage Restaurant and Wine Bar offers a delightful elegant dinner with succulent seasonal ingredients and an extensive wine list, while overlooking a magnificently hypnotic view. Our delicately seasoned vegetables, appetizing fish over a flavourful pine nut risotto and a round wooden platter with a variety of mushrooms were each meticulously prepared. Executive chef Daniel Bruce, also the founder of the Boston Wine Festival, integrates his vineyard-to-table savior-faire. The Boston Harbor Hotel provides an absolutely lavish New England experience.
The Ritz–Carlton Boston underlines the concept of elegance, particularly throughout the welcoming setting at the Artisan Bistro and Avery Bar, serving modern American cuisine in a European-like setting. Whether you’re prepared to indulge in a delicious cheese, egg and wild mushroom mélange, or a simple charcuterie platter, the food is presented beautifully and carefully. Guests can escape into the cozy and elegantly styled Avery Bar, with craft cocktails, martinis and a selection of small plates that can be enjoyed amongst the company of friends or alone under a glamorous crystal chandelier near a roaring fire in an elevated marble fireplace. •
