Photographer Douglas Rimington heads to a London car park to take in Sorapol’s spring–summer 2013 collection, which references the drug-hazed hedonism of the 1970s

London-based brand Sorapol is not afraid to push the envelope, which showed a spring–summer 2013 collection on October 19, set in the bohemian culture of Kings Road, 1974.

The best part of the show, which took place on a level of the Brewer Street Car Park in central London, was picking out the celebrity caricatures of those well known to be “nose deep” in the world of sex, drugs and rock ’n’ roll that the aptly named Euphoria collection was based around. Even the runway had a line of “cocaine” painted on it.

The styling of the show included full masks—created by Achraf Amir—covering the models’ faces, wigs and clothes that made it easy to spot which one was which celebrity, adding a lot of fun to an already upbeat indie show. With very long catwalks such as this, some issues can occur, but with the theatrical walking of each model, the show never dragged. It concluded with a guitar-straddling Marilyn Manson lookalike and the designer making a quick dash down the runway. •
