October saw fashion’s European counterparts alive with autumn festivities. In Paris, Ralph Lauren hosted a event on October the 8th in celebration of his new restoration project. Across the channel just two days later, Rimmel celebrated its 180th birthday in typical London style. continued below
Rimmel was joined by London’s cool clique in celebrating 180 years of creating edgy, luxurious cosmetics. Kate Moss, Rita Ora and Georgia May Jagger were just some of the big names who attended this exclusive invite-only event. Moss and Jagger, Rimmel brand representatives, arrived in style, pulling up in Rimmel-Branded black cabs. Guests not only witnessed a exclusive fashion show but also a surprise performance from London’s own and new Rimmel collaborator, Rita Ora. Ora’s exclusive capsule collection for Rimmel is realized in March 2014 ensuring their 181st year begins with a bang. Strong make-up, bright red lips and platinum blonde hair represents her London-born style and are the inspiration for this new collection, perfect for the daring and edgy risk-taker. Ralph Lauren’s celebration involved a fall 2013 collection show and black-tie private dinner emphasizing his new restoration project and patron sponsorship of l’École des Beaux-Arts. Those attending included Lauren himself as well as family members Ricky Lauren, David Lauren, Dylan Lauren, Andrew Lauren and finally Lauren Bush Lauren. HSH Princess Charlene of Monaco attended, wearing a stunning custom silk taffeta evening dress while Princess Corinna zu Sayn-Wittgenstein wore a black silk dress with beading. Others who attended included US Ambassador to France, Charles H. Rivkin, Susan Tolson, Catherine Deneuve, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Lambert Wilson, Laurent Lafitte, Alice Taglioni, Laurence Ferrari, Arielle Dombasle, Jean-Jacques Aillagon, Cherie Chung, Eriko Nakamura and, finally, renowned fashion blogger Elin Kling. Ralph Lauren stated in regard to the restoration, ‘I have always believed in preserving places that inform our history and culture. When I understood the École des Beaux Arts needed renovation I was moved to help the artists, students and all creative people to safeguard their environments.’ •
