Christy Turlington, Issa Rae, Lucy Liu, Olympian Aly Raisman and model Ming Xi star in Stuart Weitzman’s latest campaign film, How Lovely to Be a Woman, directed by Matvey Fiks.

The new film is set to a remake of the song,‘How Lovely to Be a Woman’, from the 1963 musical Bye Bye Birdie with Ann-Margret, but in a way that subverts the original message of the song, and turns it into one of female empowerment.

Black-and-white visuals—a Stuart Weitzman trade mark—are combined with documentary-style colour footage, some newly shot for the campaign, others from archives featuring the five women.

The campaign features designs from the 5050, Stuart, Nudist and Emerson collections, namely the 5050 over-the-knee boot and 5050 Soho bootie, the Stuart 100 pump, the Nudist II sandal, and the brand-new Emerson buckle boot. The film received its première on September 4 at the Crosby Street Hotel in New York City, with Lucy Liu, in conversation with author Lydia Fenet (Claim Your Confidence). The event launched the Stuart Weitzman Stand Strong Series: Conversations about the Pleasures and Pressures of Modern Womanhood, with further forums taking place through the autumn.
