Polli caught our eye this week. We were impressed with the jewellery and home accessories’ company’s notion that its team members share a ‘communal vegan lunch’ which it produces in its own kitchen, using ingredients that include herbs from its own garden. The Carbon Reduction Institute, which provides Carbon Neutral certification in Australia, has given Polli a Low CO2 award.
Also catching our eye was Oakley’s 2009 Gretchen Bleiler Signature Series, named for the Olympic silver medallist. The Series comprises apparel and accessories, but what we want to put readers on to are the Eco items (two jackets, one pair of pants and two organic Ts), made of recycled materials, including Eco Storm fabric, and manufactured without solvents.
While the rest of the range doesn’t have eco credentials, some attempt at acknowledging the environment is welcome. However, we take our hat off to Polli for being more comprehensive in its Carbon Neutral aims and helping our environment.
