Miss New Zealand ’09, Katie Taylor, models Natalie Chan

Katie Taylor, who remains Miss Universe New Zealand till she hands her crown over at the Duxton Hotel in Wellington on Saturday night, is the latest model for fashion designer, milliner and head-wear designer Natalie Chan.
   Chan, whose works out of her premises on Parnell Road, Auckland, spent a day shooting Taylor modelling Chan’s current, in-store head-gear and dresses.
   Chan celebrates her fifth anniversary of her own label this year. The majority of her clothes are unique, including bespoke items for balls and weddings.
   Taylor was crowned Miss Universe New Zealand in Levin in April 2009. It was her second attempt at the crown, having placed in the top five in 2007. Based in Auckland, she has Midlands roots on her mother’s side and may be the only Miss New Zealand who knows how to fly aircraft.
   She ventures to Wellington on Thursday in the lead-up to her successor being named at the weekend.
