Alberto Annibali, formerly of Valentino, Gianfranco Ferrè and Versace, set up his own label in 2007. His spring–summer 2011 collection displays the designer’s deep understanding of not just design, but of fabrics and tailoring.
Annibali has aimed for a 24-hour cocktail look, according to his release, with a clean, feminine silhouette reminiscent of the 1960s. His inspiration is the elegant woman attending a New York gallery in the 1960s.
The jackets are either minimal and hip-hugging or masculine with a tuxedo style.
Annibali has aimed for colours that reflect minerals and semi-precious stones: optical white, rose quartz, coral pink, khaki, green jade, brown and black.
Fabrics, meanwhile, are silk and silk–cotton blend with hints of synthetic yarns. Satin blended with light organza, and cotton–nylon for a Lurex effect round off the other fabrics used in this capsule collection.
