Some ideas are borne from team conversation. Correspondent Ashleigh Berry, who with photographer Hamish McLaren produced earlier coverage from Sydney for Lucire, recently collaborated to showcase what designers have in store now. This is the first in a series, beginning with Ruby.
Patchwork shorts, NZ$229. Ruby’s Patchwork shorts are lightweight, versatile and complete with runway pockets. They will easily mix and match with a variety of colours, not to mention the entire Ruby range. They are an essential summer 2012 fashion staple.

The Boardwalk dress has a distinctive Ruby touch, with a cross-over halter neck, ideal for one of New Zealand’s many wine festivals. The Patchwork dress is more loose-fitting, featuring gold coloured studs down the centre. Dresses can be easily dressed up or kept casual.
Shirred cocktail dress, NZ$329. From Ruby’s spring–summer 2011–12 range. This dress is strikingly beautiful. Featuring two layers of fabric in the skirt (perfect for Wellington’s notorious windy weather). The shirring elastic in the back ensures a near-perfect fit.
