Sabatini’s new spring–summer 2012–13 collection has been boosted by none other than Miranda Kerr, who models the signature outfit for the label in David Jones’s in-house magazine. David Jones will also show Sabatini and Sabatini White at its own show on August 14.
Sabatini says its new collection ‘reflects a modern and bold feel to classic design, with a tribute to great ’60s shapes and simplistic silhouettes.’ Colour-blocking (Capri blue and Poppy red), and lightweight knits with silk, cotton and Tencel, are among the highlights for the season.
Sabatini Men will be launched into David Jones stores across Australia for summer.
Also getting inspired from an earlier era—in this case the 1950s—Dolce & Gabbana has released its Matt Silk eyewear collection, now available at OPSM in New Zealand for the southern spring–summer 2012–13. Colours include taupe, cherry red, cerulean sky, lipstick pink, mother earth brown and jet black, while the eyewear designs include an oversize papillon shape.
The campaign has been shot by Giampaolo Sgura and Bianca Balti models. (Behind-the-scenes images appear below.)
This weekend for those in Wellington, New Zealand: Sanit Klamchanuan’s Kiwi Thai exhibition at Thistle Hall closes August 4. It’s well worth heading to if you haven’t already: Klamchanuan explores his Thai roots and their intersection with New Zealand culture, a story that’s relevant not just to any immigrant, but to anyone who has travelled or deals across cultures. How do your own expectations change and how do those around you affect you? Klamchanuan explores it through his art, with mythical Thai birds alongside Māori-influenced designs. We’ve a feeling this is the first of many exhibitions from this talented New Zealand artist.
