The walls were sterile, the exhibit was vibrant and the atmosphere was infectious. The launch party for Underground Sundae’s new autumn collection was held last Friday night, showcasing the latest offering of Anne-Mieke Ytsma’s eccentric and dynamic collection. Fall in Love, Not in Line was another progressive collection exhibiting the young designer’s belief that value creation does not only belong to traditional forms. Various oddities that the young designer collects through op-shop raids are reworked to form arrangements that reflect an acutely refined eye for intricate and structural details. Pearls, safety pins, beads and a host of collected trinkets are haphazardly but purposefully combined in a series of bold nostalgic colours and sound structures. Some notable pieces were the Safety Pin Heart necklace and Pearl Skull ring.
