Aldo, known more for its shoes, is launching a collection of friendship bracelets to raise funds for Partners in Health, a non-profit organization combatting HIV and Aids.
The bracelets have been designed in collaboration with Waris Loves You.
The latest Aldo Fights Aids campaign, hashtagged #FriendsFight, will see 100 per cent of net proceeds donated to Partners in Health. The unisex bracelets retail for C$5, are available in red, navy, mint and black, and feature an arrow charm with an antique gold finish.
The bracelets will retail at Aldo stores on- and offline from February 1.
Aldo Bensadoun, founder of Aldo, said, ‘We have been committed to the fight against Aids as far back as 1985, when few were willing to take a stand. It’s a cause very close to our heart and today, more than ever, we continue our commitment to raising awareness and funds to help protect and educate people around the world. We’ve come a long way but the fight is not over yet.
‘This bracelet is an important symbol. It represents friendship and solidarity. It’s an invitation to join together in the fight against Aids.’
Waris Ahluwalia, CEO of Waris Loves You and House of Waris, added, ‘I always say my inspirations come from love and history. With these bracelets, it’s about standing side by side with friends and loved ones for what’s right and noble, and transforming history together. The arrow symbolizes truth, justice and movement forward, it’s a powerful way to create change.’
Partners in Health provides medical treatment, housing, water, food and psychosocial support to people living with HIV. It believes in addressing the root causes of HIV—namely poverty and disease. Aldo has raised more than C$10 million for international Aids programmes since 1985.
