News in brief: Prahran label Nique has its Control collection for summer 2009, viewable at its website. There’s a little more about its background on our fashion contents’ page.
Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology’s Ramona Millen came to our attention at the end of last month with her collection made from recycling men’s trousers for a 1940s’ look. Millen, studying costume design, unexpectedly found herself creating fashion. Her garments will go on sale after being displayed at Nelson’s Suter Gallery from November 15. (Ms Millen’s collection has been photographed by Daniel Allen.)
Late in October and in early November, the Latvians had a bit of a fashion celebration called Moment. In Riga’s Art Space, photographs, accessories and clothes from European designers were displayed, and evening shows held. Designers from Latvia, Estonia and as far afield as Italy and Japan participated in the event curated by M?r?te Masti?a and Rolands P?terkops, organized by Damien Carlier, a Belgian fashion producer living in Latvia, Alise ?elze, a Latvian producer working actively within the film industry and project manager Guntra Lipska. The Moment stage was set by Viennese artist Rudolf Bekic.

Last, but not least, an image that we are about to file away after covering the event. This was from the Women at Risk 10th annual fund-raiser and VIP concert in April, which Elyse Glickman and the LA team covered for Lucire.
