The array of furniture and objects in the Home Design Awards 2009 are testament to the fact that New Zealand designers are being well recognized internationally.
‘I think the selection of furniture and objects in the Design Awards 2009 shows that New Zealand designers are easily able to foot it on the world stage,’ said the editor of Home magazine, Jeremy Hansen. The awards were this year judged by Edward Barber of London’s BarberOsgerby. The finalists came from different parts of the country with Auckland-based designer Jamie McLellan taking up the winning title for his wooden Twig coat-stand.
If you want to check out some of the designs, head along to Auckland’s Te Tuhi Centre for the Arts from April 17 to May 3, then at Staple Furniture + Design’s Gisborne showroom from mid-May.
