We brought you news of its impending opening last year, and now Ferrari World Abu Dhabi has become one of the treats on Sky 1’s Noel’s Christmas Presents programme.
An inspirational teenager got a chance to visit the theme park promoting the Maranello brand and ride the world’s fastest roller-coaster, which takes riders up to 150 mph and 4·8 g—the same as a Formula 1 racing car.
Sixteen-year-old Tyler Holpin of Cwmbrân, Wales was the lucky recipient, a reward for rescuing six children from a neighbour’s house when a fuse box caught fire.
Holpin put a ladder to the first floor window and, one by one, carried each child to safety. As the eldest male in the family, he is carer for his mother, grandmother, younger brother and twin sisters, while also studying for his GCSEs.
Holpin is a Ferrari fan, which prompted Ferrari North Europe to get involved, says Matteo Torre, the regional manager.
Holpin and his family stayed at the Yas Hotel. Ferrari provided a California for TV host—and former Top Gear presenter—Noël Edmonds to surprise Tyler with a passenger ride to the theme park. Flights were donated by Etihad Airways.
Noël’s Christmas Presents airs on December 19 on Sky 1 and Sky 1 HD.
