Is it time for a break? Oxfam promotes Fair Trade

News

April 17, 2011/5.46

Why don’t you get your friends or work colleagues together and take part in the Oxfam Coffee Break? You can take part by signing up at OxfamCoffeeBreak.org.nz, registrations closing April 22.
Last year, more than 20,000 New Zealanders took part and it’s a great way to raise awareness of Fair Trade and support farmers in developing countries. People who participate will be sent a Coffee Break pack containing free Fair Trade Caffè l’Affare coffee, Kokako drinking chocolate, Whittaker’s chocolate and some great materials about Fair Trade. All proceeds from the auctions will go towards Oxfam’s work to find lasting solutions to poverty and injustice.
Earlier this month, Kiwis were given the chance to win a Fair Trade coffee date with one of their favourite celebrities, by bidding on the Fair TradeMe auction. The lucky winners will have the choice of meeting New Zealand’s favourite westy wild child Antonia Prebble for a coffee on the set of her new film, share a cuppa with singer Don McGlashan, or tour the set of Shortland Street, along with several more exciting options. Everything raised goes directly to promoting Fair Trade and helping coffee growers worldwide improve the quality of their lives.—Vicki Matias
