As a follow-up to our coverage of the Oxford Fashion Week in March, the Bridelicious boutique in Wallingford, in association with Oxford Fashion Week, will auction a one-of-a-kind couture bridal dress worth £6,000. The money raised will go towards the Oxford Thinking Campaign, which was launched in 2008 with the goal of raising money to support students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
A bid had been made earlier in the year, but the bidder pulled out after delayed payments—hence the new offer by the organizers to help raise funds for the campaign.
The gown, a beautifully crafted Dar Sara creation, was flown to the UK straight from the catwalk of Dubai Fashion Week to appear in Oxford Fashion Week’s couture show, and is currently on display at the Bridelicious boutique. Every visitor to the boutique will be treated to a personalized consultation and will get the chance to try the gown on before placing a private bid. With a seamstress on site, the dress can be adjusted to fit anyone like a glove.
If you are a bride-to-be, it is a great chance to get yourself a couture gown for a fraction of the price, as it is being auctioned to the highest bidder for charity throughout May. Made from the finest French silks, this dress took months to complete with every stitch and every drape done by hand. To top it off, it is encrusted with thousands of Swarovski crystals and pearls, enough glamour to make any woman look and feel a million pounds. Not only will the lucky bidder feel like a princess on her big day, but it will also be a great feeling to know that they are assisting a future student with the opportunity to study at one of the world’s most prestigious centres of education.
