Montblanc has launched a collection paying tribute to HSH Princess Grace at the Opéra Garnier, at a gala event attended by her son, HSH Prince Albert II, her daughter, HRH Princess Caroline of Hanover, and daughter-in-law HSH Princess Charlene.
A three-act production by Robert Wilson, Grace for Grace, took 350 VIPs on a journey through Princess Grace’s life. The costumes in the production have been designed by Viktor & Rolf.
The unveiling of the Montblanc Collection Princesse Grace de Monaco followed.
A VIP dinner across Casino Square, at the Hotel de Paris, followed, with guests including Eva Herzigova, Emmanuelle Béart, Naomi Watts, Elsa Pataky, Daryl Hannah, Sarah Marshall, Jerry Hall (below left), Sylvie van der Vaart, Sonja Kirchberger, Fiona Hefti, Annemarie Warnkross, Olivia Palermo, Natalie Imbruglia, Genoveva Casanova, Sumire Matsubara, Julia Valet, Marie Waldburg, Frauke Ludowig and Franziska Knuppe joining Montblanc CEO Lutz Bethge.
An earlier collaboration with the Principality of Monaco, Montblanc’s Prince Rainier III Limited Edition 81 fountain pen in 2007, saw half the proceeds from its sale go to the Fondation Princesse Grace. Earlier this year, Montblanc created a unique pen with 161 rubies and 128 diamonds for the wedding of Prince Albert and Princess Charlene, which the couple used to sign their wedding contract. Montblanc has also supported the Princess Grace Foundation USA.

The collection consists of fine jewellery, timepieces and writing instruments, with the Grace de Monaco pink rose—created in 1956 to commemorate her wedding to HSH Prince Rainier III—a recurring motif.
The fine jewellery is set with precious stones and diamonds; the timepieces feature a drop of pink sapphire, while the writing instruments feature petal-cut diamonds, pink sapphires and topazes.
The fine jewellery range includes a necklace with cascading pink sapphires and diamonds, long earrings with drop-cut pink sapphires, and a matching bracelet. A more limited edition features a more understated necklace with matching earrings and a sinuous ring in diamond and pink sapphire.
The timepiece is limited to eight units. It has 76 baguette-cut diamonds on the bezel and the horns, with a drop-cut pink sapphire. The case is in 18 ct red gold, and the back features the Princesse Grace de Monaco monogram. Another 177 diamonds appear across the flange and the mother-of-pearl dial. The white alligator strap and buckle are set with 76 brilliant-cut diamonds, and a Montblanc diamond appears in the crown.
One fountain pen is limited to three pieces, representing Princess Grace’s three children. It is crafted from champagne-coloured solid gold, accentuated with diamonds and rubies on the cap and barrel. The monogram appears on the cap top, and the clip features a c. 0·41 ct diamond. The cap is adorned with rhomboid-shaped cut rubies.
The other pen is limited to 29, representing Grace Kelly’s year of birth, 1929. This second pen has solid gold fittings, with the clip set in pink sapphire. The 18 ct gold nib features a heart-shaped hole.
