Our Milano Moda Donna—Milan Fashion Week—videos today are from Prada, which we delayed till this article, so we could complement it with Moschino, Etro, Just Cavalli and Blumarine.
Prada is always a must-watch at Milano, and plenty raved over more black for autumn—though we liked the geometric and mosaic prints that Miuccia Prada sent down. Long coats and trouser suits were in, and if you wanted embellishment, there was plenty of jewellery to be had.
Cowboy hats, stetsons and double-breasted coats, in bright neon colours, got us cheering and applauding a little more loudly at Moschino, which must have sent the first upbeat collection at Milano. You can depend on this label to be positive, and we weren’t disappointed.
Lana del Ray appeared, at least in the music played, at Etro, which called its autumn–winter 2012–13 collection Lady Paisley. There were paisleys, of course, but interpreted in 2010s ways, such as a body tattoo on sheer T-shirts and dresses. As at Prada, there were mosaics, but on body suits and trousers.
Just Cavalli’s idea of youth meant a set with graffiti, while on the catwalk we saw lamé leggings, zebra, leopard and art-déco prints, and houndstooth. Roberto Cavalli knows his fans like a bit of antiestablishment fun, all while ensuring everything is wearable, and again he did not disappoint.
