We have two more videos from Paris Fashion Week—Isabel Marant and Sonia Rykiel—and one from Christian Louboutin’s show at the Crazy Horse cabaret.
Isabel Marant’s cowboy shirts and bright jeans made the American frontier very feminine, complemented by suede trousers, satin shirts, lace blouses and cowboy boots. Pink, red, navy and gold kept the autumn look relaxed and playful.
It was back to the 1970s for Sonia Rykiel, according to the show notes, but the look was more sophisticated and less garish than we remember the decade being. Elegant, asymmetric woollen jackets and coats, pencil skirts, floaty dresses with puffy sleeves, a jumper in alpaca and mohair, and comfortable sheer silk dresses showed a very wearable autumn–winter 2012–13 from the label. The most 1970s’ element was the headbands, which gave the models’ heads the sort of skullcap silhouette we saw during that decade, but even that was pulled off well.
Finally, Christian Louboutin celebrates his 20th anniversary in our final video with his new role as a ‘guest creator’ of the Paris cabaret Crazy Horse. His emphasis was on, of course, the shoes, since the performers are nude.
The show, Feu, runs from March 5 to May 31. Louboutin has choreographed four acts, including an erotic dance.
Later this year, Louboutin continues his 20th anniversary celebrations with an exhibition at London’s Design Museum.
