Absolut’s new Wild Tea plays on black tea and Nordic elderflower flavours

Tea is the “in” drink, more so in the last few years, and Absolut has now responded. Absolut Wild Tea has made its New Zealand début, retailing at NZ$46·99 for 700 ml, with hints of tea, elderflower, red apples and citrus.
The new vodka has been done in true Scandinavian style: black tea is mixed with Nordic white elderflower, resulting in a rich, fruity taste with natural sweetness.
The bottle design plays on the ingredients with a black and golden look, while staying true to the iconic Absolut brand.
Chris Harrop, Absolut’s mixologist, says in a release, ‘The versatility of Absolut Wild Tea allows the vodka to mix well with a range of sweet and sour ingredients, and brings something new and exciting to any drink or cocktail.
‘Developing exciting flavours that inspire consumers and bartenders is something we always aspire to. With Absolut Wild Tea we are continuing this tradition with an innovative addition to the flavour landscape.’
On that note, Harrop has created a new cocktail, inspired by the Collins, to celebrate Absolut Wild Tea’s launch.

Absolut Vodka Wild and Spice
45 ml Absolut Vodka Wild Tea
30 ml lemon juice
2 barspoons caster sugar
Top with ginger beer
Method: Build ingredients over ice in a tall glass, balancing the exclusive darkness of the tea with ginger beer. Garnish with lemon slices to finish.
