As a regular sponsor—we believe this is the 17th year where it has been the official make-up brand of the Festival de Cannes—L’Oréal Paris ambassadors were out in force on day one, with Blake Lively getting the most attention of the six who walked the red carpet. Gong Li, Zoe Saldaña, Jane Fonda, Karlie Kloss and Laetitia Casta also appeared for their fans.
Make-up artist Karim Rahman created looks for five of the L’Oréal faces, with the Volume Million Lashes the most notable product of the festival. It’s one of three products that L’Oréal Paris has released for Cannes 2014, the other two being the Color Riche eye shadows, no. 600, Opalescent, and no. 601, Soleil Levant (Sunrise).
The four key products for each face are shown below, each with tips from Rahman. For Lively, Rahman notes, ‘It’s important to apply eyeshadow as close to the lash line as possible. Applying it right to the edges is key to achieving the perfect result.’
His tip for Casta’s look: ‘For long wear without fail, powder your lips before applying your Infaillible colour and finish with the fixing balm.’
For Saldaña: ‘An exceptionally delicate tip for a perfectly precise line. The eyes are styled to the milimetre.’
For Li: ‘For a more intense look, you can use a liner on the inner part of the bottom eyelid, but also on the upper eyelid, in-between lashes. The result is stunning!’
Finally, for Kloss: ‘Work the texture of the eye shadow with your fingers to create a look that captivates and radiates sparkling pearly shimmers.’
