Algerian–French model Loli-Bahia is Chanel’s face for its autumn–winter 2023–4 prêt-à-porter collection by Virginie Viard, in a shoot directed by Inez & Vinoodh.
The collection has been inspired by the camellia, whose motif appears on denim Bermuda shorts, a tweed jacket, as embroidery on a satin jacket, as a print on a long jersey dress, and on a pair of boots. It also inspired the colour palette of pink, red, black and white. Chanel also notes some menswear codes have been adopted for the autumn–winter collection in its shorts-suit and a short tweed checked jacket.
The images alternate between colour and monochrome. In a release, the Inez & Vinoodh noted, ‘Loli-Bahia is the very embodiment of the Chanel woman. Eccentric, daring, androgynous … A mix of delicacy and quiet strength.’
Loli-Bahia added, ‘This campaign reminds me of the ’90s, of vintage chic, of the emergence of new silhouettes. The hairstyles and make-up are perfect examples. I’m really impressed by the power of the photos taken by Inez & Vinoodh.’
The collection will be available in boutiques from September 25.
