The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) hosted its 12th annual Art & Film Gala on Saturday, presented by Gucci, honouring artist Dr Judy Baca and filmmaker David Fincher, with a special performance by Lenny Kravitz. The event, with over 650 guests, raised over US$5 million to make film more central to LACMA programmes, including future exhibitions and acquisitions.

The event was co-chaired by LACMA trustee Eva Chow and actor Leonardo DiCaprio, with Gucci creative director Sabato de Sarno as the gala host committee chair.

Gucci had been the presenting sponsor since 2011. Audi provided transportation and additional support.

Also representing Gucci at the event were Jean-François Palus, its president and CEO, and Alessio Vannetti, chief brand officer. Representing Audi was Emilie Cotter, chief marketing officer.

Guests attended an outdoor cocktail reception and took photos in front of Chris Burden’s (1946–2015) sculpture Urban Light, located at LACMA and known as one of Los Angeles’ symbols. They then headed to dinner at the Art & Film pavilion overlooking Michael Heizer’s Levitated Mass sculpture. The dinner was created by chef Mattia Agazzi of Gucci Osteria da Massimo Bottura in Beverly Hills, in collaboration with chef Joachim Splichal and Patina Catering. Wines were by Justin Vineyards & Winery, signature cocktails by Khee Premium Soju, and additional beverages by Fiji Water.

Michael Govan and Eva Chow welcomed the audience, and Eva Longoria delivered the tribute to Judy Baca, accompanied by a short film, Baca, by Alejandra Vasquez and Sam Osborn.

Brad Pitt delivered the tribute to David Fincher, and Jennifer López introduced Lenny Kravitz, who performed ‘Fly Away’, ‘American Woman’, ‘Are You Gonna Go My Way’, ‘Dig in’, and ‘Here to Love’.
