Australia’s Unsigned Model Search hits New Zealand, in partnership with Red 11 Management.

The diversity model search wants New Zealanders aged 18 and over, of all genders and ethnic backgrounds, offering them a chance to appear in Designer Brands (DB) Cosmetics’ first global campaign, I Design Me, and a three-year modelling contract in Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia.

Geegee Abernethy is one of the ambassadors of the New Zealand competition. They were one of the winners of the Australian competition last year, with their heritage from both Aotearoa and Thailand.

‘Being half New Zealand and half Thai, I’ve always been passionate about representing those who don’t fit into a single box. The Unsigned Model Search is a powerful platform to showcase that beauty has no boundaries. Becoming one of the faces for Australia’s Unsigned Model Search last year was a dream come true, and now I’m excited to help others experience that same joy here in New Zealand,’ they said.

Amanda Connors, CMO of Total Beauty Network, added, ‘Our partnership with Red11 Management marks a significant step in increasing our awareness and footprint in New Zealand. We are committed to representing real New Zealanders and empowering individuals to embrace their uniqueness. By taking this search global, we’re making beauty accessible to everyone, breaking down barriers in an industry that has often been seen as exclusive.’

‘The Unsigned Model Search is a platform for redefining beauty standards in the modelling industry. We are excited to launch this search in collaboration with DB Cosmetics, a brand that shares our vision of inclusivity and diversity,’ said Red 11 director Mandy Jacobsen.

The call will take place on September 12, 13 and 14 inclusive at Westfield Albany, where there is a pop-up photo studio, where participants will have a photo and video taken. They will also be in to win a daily door prize of a year’s worth of DB Cosmetics.

Registrations then open online from 6 p.m. on the 14th inst., closing on the 30th.

An invitation-only casting will follow on October 1 with up to 20 finalists presenting to an industry judging panel. Winners are announced on October 3.
