Normally, among the European labels, it’s Giorgio Armani who’s first to tell the media who wore what at a major gala event. This year, Louis Vuitton has sent information through, claiming Emile Sherman, Andrew Garfield and Gwyneth Paltrow as its clotheshorses at the 83rd Academy Awards.
Producer Sherman (The King’s Speech) and Garfield wore a Louis Vuitton dinner suit and shoes.
Former Academy Award winner Paltrow wore earrings, a brooch and a ring from the Louis Vuitton l’Âme du Voyage collection.
The earrings and brooch feature Louis Vuitton diamonds and coloured stones on white, yellow and red gold. The ring features Louis Vuitton diamonds and baguette diamonds on white gold.
The company has also stated that its men’s ready-to-wear head Paul Helbers has left after nearly doubling the studio’s activity. Kim Jones, MA, formerly creative director at Alfred Dunhill, and a veteran of Uniglo, Mulberry, Alexander McQueen, Hugo Boss, Umbro and Topman, replaces him.
Jones has been a stylist and art director for the likes of Dazed and Confused, Arena Homme Plus, Another Magazine, The New York Times’ T Magazine, 10 Men, V Men, i-D, Numéro Homme and Fantastic Man. He has been awarded Menswear Designer of the Year by the British Fashion Council in 2006 and in 2009.
