Zack Snyder’s action–fantasy film Sucker Punch has had its UK première, with Vanessa Hudgens, Abbie Cornish, Emily Browning, Jamie Chung and Oscar Isaac among the celebrities attending at Leicester Square.
Director Snyder brought much of the production team from his earlier success Watchmen together for the new film, set in a visually spectacular fantasy world in the mind of a young woman in 1955.
Hudgens, wearing a white Alberta Ferretti gown at the première, was happy with the hand-to-hand combat, quite different from her Disney-friendly image in High School Musical.
Two Australian actresses—Cornish and Browning—are among the leads. Cornish enjoyed the experience of learning martial arts and using arms, while Browning equated her experience to being in the army.
ITN didn’t include a quote from director Snyder, but Chung and Isaac credit his success to a child-like imagination.
The film opens in the UK on April 1.
