Double BAFTA nominee, former Bond girl and Glamour Film Actress of the Year Gemma Arterton was the previously unnamed celebrity who opened Harrods’ summer sale earlier today.
Arterton, wearing Balmain, posed at door 5 of the store and at its Georgian restaurant on the fourth floor.
Both former Harrods chairman Mohamed Al-Fayed and current board member Dr Kamal Maamria posed with the actress.
Arterton says she is a regular Harrods shopper but tended to miss the biggest specials on the first day’s sales.
Her next fim, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, is ‘dark and really violent,’ she says. The movie is intended to be a sequel to the fairy tale, in which Hansel and Gretel grow up and become bounty hunters, targeting witches.
The sale spans over 330 departments and seven floors at the Knightsbridge store. It ends July 10.
