The worlds of high fashion and high tea came together on Saturday, August 21 at Hippopotamus Restaurant at the Museum Hotel in Wellington, to create an afternoon of refined elegance as part of the Wellington on a Plate festival.
High Tea High Fashion featured elegant bites prepared by the very talented chef de pâtisserie Louis Sergeant and high fashion by designer Alexandra Owen.
This was an event that truly combined art, food and fashion together on a delectable tasting plate.
As New Zealand’s only independent boutique art hotel, Museum Hotel has had a long been a supporter of New Zealand fashion and the arts, and its continuing relationship with Alexandra Owen (Owen’s designs are currently worn by staff at the hotel) sees an even greater appreciation of that.
This was also a last chance for the general public to see the collection up close before Owen and her spring–summer 2011 collection fly off to New York to showcase there for Fashion Week next month.—Sopheak Seng
