Stolen Girlfriends’ Club’s HQ was cleared out to fit 200 guests for the showing of its summer 2012ā13 collection on last Wednesday evening. Titled Hello Country/Goodbye Nightclub, the collection is filled with a mash-up of florals, chambray, crocodile-embossed leather, and naughty-Nana crochet knits.
The small town girl has grown up and sliced her “country bumpkin” frocks to make way for some new party outfits. The floral prints appear playful, but get a closer look and they take you on a trip, consisting of opium poppies and datura flowers.
In the menswear range, we see a clash between sport and street. The sporty silhouettes in semi-precious fabrics, preppy knits with āWTFā embroidered on the front, and the American crew sweater with the snake and flamingo print all show this tension.
Their accessories are all in the signature print with leather trimmings. Hello Country/Goodbye Nightclub drops into stores September and October this year.āBrea Pothan

Fashion mƦstro Karl Lagerfeld himself launched an exclusive, dedicated space for his brand at Selfridges on Tuesday, featuring two of his collections: Karl Man + Woman and the premium line, Karl Lagerfeld Paris Man. Selfridges will also feature Team Karl, a third, capsule collection commemorating the London Olympics.
The pop-up store is on the third floor, within Selfridges’ contemporary womenswear department.
The autumnāwinter 2012ā13 Karl collection is the more casual line, achieving what this magazine has always dubbed ‘accessible luxury’. The collection, says Selfridges, ‘offers the wearer sharp tailoring and fresh silhouettes without compromising great fabrics and durability.’
Karl Lagerfeld Paris Man is a luxury line featuring innovative design and tailoring.
Team Karl is an exclusive capsule collection that captures ‘the energy and celebrations around the Olympic Games’.
The space will also feature artistic T-shirts created in collaboration with London design agency I Love Dust.
Lagerfeld says the collection’s inspiration is himself: ‘It’s me. I have to be careful not to get too much into it, because I don’t expect everyone to dress like me. That’s why I like this collection with the T-shirts, to make a joke about me, because I think I’m a cartoon.
ĀāInspiration is a muscle. This muscle has to be used all the time. The more you do, the more ideas you have. I don’t believe in waiting for inspiration on beaches.’
Selfridges’ creative director Alannah Weston says, ‘To have someone like Karl Lagerfeld working with a store like Selfridges really just shows two meetings of the minds. We both are irreverent as brands, and we really try to work with people who see the lighter side of things.’
VIPs Daphne Guinness, Hilary Alexander (who said Lagerfeld’s presence lent a ‘savoir-faire to the whole kind of idea of Olympic fashion’), Poppy Delevingne, Dudley O’Shaughnessy, Asif Khan, Rosario Dawson, Tallulah Harlech, Harley Viera Newton, Alison Mosshart, also feature in the video.
Selfridges presently has dedicated Karl Lagerfeld windows at its main entrance.
De Grisogono’s jewellery has featured numerous times in Lucire, especially at the Festival de Cannes, but its watches have often been fashion statements of their own.
De Grisogono’s Tondo by Night watches require 45 minutes’ exposure to light, natural or artificial, for them to light up from the inside, thanks to condensed light in the case and buckle material. The composite, called Pearly Photo-luminescent Fibreglass, is exclusive to de Grisogono and features mother-of-pearl particles.
Tondo by Night also features a reversed oscillating weight on the dial side. The Calibre SF 30-89 movement has a 42-hour power reserve.
Forget the metallic look: you can have shiny watches with bright coloursāwhite, yellow, pink, green, purple and orangeāin trend with the latest fashions.
Plus there are other precious stones through the self-winding mechanism, mirroring the galuchat stingray hide grain on the strap. There is a black diamond on the crown, 48 gems on the bezel and 60 precious stones arranged in three rows on the oscillating weight. Depending on the model, there are white diamonds, sapphires, tsavorites or amethysts.
The design continues de Grisogono’s modern baroque style, blending classicism with clever technology.
The watches are luminescent and particularly startling at night, be they on the red carpet or at a nightclub.
