The second trailer for the new James Bond film, Skyfall, has been released, initially at 007.com, at 2 p.m. BST.
More of the plot emerges in the new trailer, showing Bond falling to his presumed death, and an attack on the SIS building—the MI6 headquarters—at Vauxhall Cross. Another plot point appears to involve the disappearance of a hard drive containing the identities of embedded agents, which are subsequently uploaded on to YouTube. Javier Bardem, who plays the villain in the new film, makes his first trailer appearance, having been seen only as a silhouette in the previous version. Ben Whishaw, the fourth actor to play Q in the Eon Productions series, also makes his first appearance.
There is also a sequence lifted from the Fleming books: a James Bond obituary being written because of the agent’s apparent death.
Fans who were concerned that director Sam Mendes’ Bond film might lack the usual thrills can cast their fears aside: the trailer has numerous action sequences that had been unknown to all but the most ardent fans.
Daniel Craig, Bérénice Marlohe, Naomie Harris, Ralph Fiennes and Dame Judi Dench feature prominently in the trailer.
