While the idea of a designer creating a promotional film for her collection is not unprecedented, Cybèle might be breaking new ground in New Zealand with Serpentine for her spring–summer 2009–10 line.
The film is being launched online, helping the label reach its international customers, such as those in Japan.
Designer Cybèle Wiren says her inspiration was Loie Fuller’s Danse Serpentine, which appears on YouTube.
To produce the film, Cybèle teamed up with creative studio Special Problems. Campbell Hooper directed the film, which is set to the Scott Walker track ‘Cossacks Are’. Chris Lorimer styled, while Derya (62 Models & Talent) modelled. Make-up was by Amber D. for MAC and Lauren Gunn, for Stephen Marr, using Kevin Murphy, oversaw the hair.
