World collaborates with Number One Shoes, unveiling collection at New Zealand Fashion Week

‘The old adage that you can judge someone quickly by looking at their shoes and handbag is so true, especially in fashion,’ says World designer Francis Hooper.
New Zealand high fashion house World has collaborated with discount brand Number One Shoes to come up with a spring–summer 2011–12 capsule collection, World Made Me Do It, to give every fashion-conscious New Zealand woman a taste of fabulous high fashion without the high fashion price tag.
For several years, Number One Shoes has provided the finishing touch for many World outfits, from look-book shoots to runway shows.
World designers took this regular custom into the studio: Francis Hooper, Denise L’Estrange-Corbet and Benny Castles decided earlier this year that they should collaborate with the chain.
The collection is under wraps till the World autumn–winter 2012 catwalk show at New Zealand Fashion Week on September 2, the final on-site show. It will also appear that night on TV3’s New Zealand’s Next Top Model finalé.
The shoes will then go on sale the following day, September 3, in what the companies claim is a first for Fashion Week.—Vicki Matias, Senior Writer
