Mini has released pictures of its new Coupé, with the camouflage of the previous official photos removed.
Footage of the car has also been released, with the Mini Coupé photographed by Oscar nominee César Charlone in Rio de Janeiro, Iceland and Hong Kong.
The most noticeable feature of the Coupé is the lower “helmet-design” roof, which gives the new model a sporty stance.
BMW claims that the John Cooper Works Coupé has the fastest acceleration and top speed of any volume-produced Mini to date. The lower roofline and the smaller frontal area contribute to the better performance. An active rear spoiler in the bootlid is deployed when the car hits 50 mph.
The models go on sale October 1 in the UK. Both diesel and petrol models will be offered, with powerplants already familiar to the brand. Fuel economy rises to 65·7 mpg (Imperial) on the Cooper SD Coupé, with carbon dioxide emissions ranging from 114 to 165 g/km.
