A small bulletin among our email attachments today: Miami Fashion Week will be doing an emerging designers’ showcase.
Entrants are sought for the grand opening prelude to the April 9–13 week, which takes place on the 9th at 7 p.m., at the Soho Studios in the Wynwood Arts’ District. One designer will be chosen as the Best New Designer in Miami and presented with an award at the closing Miami Moda & Music Awards’ show on the 13th.
The requirements are that (a) the designer must have been in business for a minimum of two years continually with a minimum of four collections in total, or two per year; (b) the designer must produce a minimum of 10 pieces per collection; and (c) the designer must be selling garments in at least one store.
If these requirements are met, designers are asked to submit six photos (no sketches) of actual garments and a bio to info@miamifashionweek.com by January 15, 2008. For the 10 that are chosen to go forward, a nominal fee to cover modelling costs will apply.
