Lucire has always preferred estate cars—station wagons in North America and the antipodes—to SUVs, such as our first choice of the Audi A4 Avant as our Car to Be Seen in back in 2001. So we like this trend toward sporting, lifestyle wagons. Opel’s new Insignia Sport Tourer is a recognition of that trend, replacing the cavernous Vectra C Caravan (but, with the growth in size, also fills the void of the old Omega B Caravan). GM’s bosses in Europe have said that the Sport Tourer designation indicates the new direction Opel will take for these types of cars. We hope to sample the Insignia in due course.
