Laury Thilleman has been given a heroine’s welcome as she returns to her home town of Brest, in Bretagne, Saturday, after winning Miss France 2011.
Nineteen-year-old Thilleman, a management student, has been thrust into the limelight since her win in Caen on December 4.
She has relocated to Paris for her reign. She recently told Alexander Raveleau of Toute La Télé that despite the worldwide interest in her, and daily interviews, she has been able to maintain a ‘cool head’.
Thilleman had not set her sights on winning Miss France initially. To complement her studies, she took up modelling. A photographer who had shot her sent her photographs in to the Miss Bretagne committee.
The Miss France pageant remains one of the highlights of French television, with an audience of eight million viewers on the night.
