Tree of Life’s première at the Festival de Cannes brought out star Brad Pitt and his wife, Angelina Jolie (in a strapless mocha-coloured Atelier Versace gown in silk mikado), probably the most recognized actress in the western world at the moment. Joining them on the red carpet were fellow stars Sean Penn and Jessica Chastain, Fan Bing Bing, with her Cartier jewellery, Zoë Saldana, Zhang Zi Lin, Rob Lowe and Sheryl Berkoff, Wendi and Rupert Murdoch (whose Fox Searchlight company releases the movie), and Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale. Reclusive director Terrence Malick was not present.
With Renault being the most exposed automotive brand at the Cannes Film Festival, Lancia was not about to be outdone. Instead of having its cars on the Renault-exclusive red carpet, the Italian brand hosted a Fashion for Relief charity benefit for Japan in association with Chopard, Vogue, the Fairmont Monte Carlo, and the Red Cross and Red Crescent societies at the marché Forville.
Naomi Campbell, Marpessa, Victoria Silvstedt, Luke Evans, Roberta Armani, Novak Djoković, Denise Richand, Peter Cervinka, Tamara Beckwith, Ivana Trump, Karla Otto, Peter Dundas, Eva Cavalli, Roberto Cavalli, Anna Dello Russo, Valerie Campbell, Carlo Giovannelli, Bruce Forsyth and Wilnelia Merced-Forsyth, Jane Fonda, Rosario Dawson, Tamara Al Gabbani and Kenneth Cole were spotted at the charity function.
Campbell herself appeared on the catwalk for Fashion for Relief, a charity which she fronts.
