Kicking off the royal visit to Canada and the United States, Princess Catherine departed Heathrow wearing a navy Smythe Les Vestes blazer over a navy Roland Mouret shift dress, accessorized by Manolo Blahnik pumps and a Mulberry Polly Push Lock handbag.
On arrival in Ottawa, the Duchess of Cambridge had changed into a navy lace sheath, from the resort 2012 collection of the Canadian–British designer Erdem.
Prince William told the crowd of 6,000 onlookers on their arrival, ‘Catherine and I are so delighted to be here in Canada, instilled in us by our parents and grandparents, who loved this country. We’ve been looking forward to this moment for a very long time. And before we were married, we had a longing to come here together.’
She concluded the first day of her tour, with a dinner at Rideau Hall, wearing a bird-print dress by Issa, one of her favourite labels.
This is her first official overseas trip as the wife of Prince William.
The couple have just commenced their second day in Canada. Their first stop today is a citizenship ceremony at the Museum of Civilization. They will remain in Ottawa till Saturday.
