Dove Cameron has been named Schwarzkopf’s new global brand ambassador.

The Emmy Award-winning actress and singer has an extensive repertoire in film, stage and music, with roles in Barely Lethal and Vengeance (2022), as well as numerous appearances on TV, including the Disney Descendants franchise. More recently, she released her début album, Alchemical: Volume 1, with the second volume due this year. Her hair colour has changed over the years, one reason that the brand was drawn to her.

In a release, Cameron said, ‘I am so excited to be Schwarzkopf’s new brand ambassador. This partnership means a lot to me because it’s a brand that I actually use and have loved for such a long time. My hair journey started when I was only eight years old when I became obsessed with the power of dyeing my hair and experimenting with identity and character, and the control that that gives me as an artist. I had a very specific hair colour during a very formative time in my life when I started in film and television that became the colour that I was known for. My identity has changed a lot as I’ve gotten older and found myself, and hair colour has been a big part of being able to claim my identity over and over, whenever I feel the need to. Changing my hair colour makes me feel renewed, reset, and fresh and Schwarzkopf is the only brand—and blonde—I trust.’

Schwarzkopf chose Cameron to broaden its audience, extending it beyond the reach of its existing ambassadors Sofia Vergara and Chris Appleton. Cameron has a claimed 47·6 million followers on Instagram.

Cameron’s appointment follows on from Schwarzkopf’s launch of its What Story Will You Tell? campaign, which attempts to tell the story behind a person’s choice of hair colour, and encourages consumers to share theirs.

Started in 1898, Schwarzkopf lays claim to a number of firsts, including the first dry shampoo, the first liquid shampoo, the first cold perm, and the first home colour product.
