Fox has released images of Cheryl Cole in the wake of the announcement that she will be the third judge on the US version of The X Factor, alongside L. A. Reid and show creator Simon Cowell.
US media are speculating on the fourth judge presently, with Paula Abdul’s name currently being mentioned.
Cowell said in the official release, ‘I’m thrilled for Cheryl. She is massively excited about this show, and has been fantastic to work with. She is also a complete brat! Most importantly, this girl can spot talent.’
‘I just can’t decide whether I am more excited to find and nurture the talent or for the unbelievable amount of amusement and entertainment I will have watching Simon doing everything and anything he can to beat me. He’s tried to beat me for three years in the UK, and hasn’t even come close. His ego must be so bruised. America is gonna love this,’ said Cole.
Auditions continue in Dallas, Texas, on May 26. Through May 8, hopefuls may also audition in Honolulu, Hawai‘i, Phoenix, Ariz., Nashville, Tenn., Anchorage, Alaska, Kansas City, Ks., and Denver, Col. Top prize in the US version is a US$5 million recording contract, and the show is open to undiscovered talent aged 12 or over. Audition information can be found at www.fox.com/theXfactor or via telephone, toll-free in the US, on 1 855 345-5678.
