David and Victoria Beckham
On the day we posted news of David and Victoria Beckham’s daughter’s birth, a lot of readers’ interests were piqued. And some were interested in just how the youngest member of the Beckham brood got her name.
It’s as many had guessed, now confirmed by David Beckham: Harper Seven Beckham has taken her first name from novelist Harper Lee, author of To Kill a Mockingbird.
He states in a video: ‘Victoria’s favourite book is To Kill A Mockingbird, and it’s a very strong, passionate book; and the author was Harper Lee, and that is where Harper came from.’
‘The main reason behind Seven was it symbolizes spiritual perfection—the seven wonders of the world, the seven colours of the rainbow—and in many cultures around the world, it is regarded as a lucky number.’
He added, ‘We love the name and we love Harper Seven. We are very happy to have her in our lives and in our family, and it is an amazing time for our family right now.’
Both parents have been publicizing photos of their little girl through the social networks. David has posted a photograph of Victoria and Harper on his Facebook page, captioned, ‘I took this picture of my two girls sleeping.’
Victoria took to Twitter, with a photo of David and Harper, captioned, ‘Daddy’s little girl.’
